Streeterville – Named after the Lake Michigan captain, Captain Streeter (he happened to run aground here and tried to settle it – independent of Chicago), this at one time garbage dump has become the rival area to the legendary Gold Coast. East Lake Shore Drive Coops (Cooperatives) and Condominiums within it’s boundaries, are some of the most valuable properties in the City.
It used to offer definite boundaries from the corner of Michigan Avenue and Oak Street, east along East Lake Shore Drive, south on inner Lake Shore Drive to Pearson Street then west to Michigan Avenue and then north to Oak Street. But today, Streeterville still begins at the corner of Oak Street and Michigan Avenue, traveling east to Lake Michigan ad then following Lake Shore Drive to just beyond Lake Point Tower then travels west on the Chicago River to Michigan Avenue and back up to Oak Street.
